Hey! Go easy on yourself during lockdown

An epiphany…

Most of us — if not all of us — are going through strange times right now. Fear, uncertainty, and our daily lives flipped upside down.

It’s natural to want to continue at full pace… but while things are so weird, know that that might not be possible.

(We’ve all seen articles about being hyper productive during this time, and yet, for most of us, just surviving is enough!)

So remember that right now, WINS ARE MULTIPLIED.

What do I mean by that?

Well… a small win under normal circumstances, is a BIG win during quarantine.

Got up, had a shower, and got dressed in something other than sweatpants?

On a normal day, that might not be cause for celebration.

But if you’ve been feeling down lately, that sort of thing is huge! We’re dealing with a lot right now.

A small win that might not even register in “normal” times is much, much bigger right now.

(Not even double. Like, a hundred times more important!)

For me, with a toddler and husband at home all the time (one of whom is really needy, and the other’s just learnt to walk — haha) everything has become tougher.

So even managing to send a newsletter once a week is a big win.

It’s not “life as normal”…

We’re not in usual circumstances. So we can’t compare our output or productivity (or whatever you want to call it) to usual times.

During these bizarre times, small wins have become big wins.

(And big wins are HUUUUUGE right now!)

So if you experience a small win — sending an email you’ve been putting off; eating a healthy dinner; working out when you really don’t feel like it — know that these are BIG causes for celebration.

It’s like doing things with your hands tied behind your back. Things are gonna be harder… but every little thing you get done is a success!

A reminder for today:

Every little thing you get done during lockdown is a BIG success.

(And by “get done”, I also mean relaxing and being kind to yourself — they’re just as important as “doing”.)

Multiply your wins.

And let me know in the comments: What small wins have you had recently which are big lockdown wins?

Hang in there. We’ll get through this (and we’ll be stronger afterwards!)

Love and kindness,

Claire
